OUR STORY
Becoming Nala unites female entrepreneurs around the world to empower their dreams.
At Becoming Nala, sisterhood is our driving force. We partner with The ABURY Foundation and The Happyness to empower women to be independent entrepreneurs. Our incubator program, hosted by the Decentralized Development Lab in Germany, provides support and guidance to budding entrepreneurs. We create a joyous, safe space for women to grow, learn, and thrive together. Becoming Nala unites women to help them realize their dreams.

What means Sisterhood for us?

Sisterhood is about connecting women and encouraging support, ambition and empowerment. We provide a community of exchange where knowledge, introductions, solutions and advice are shared between generations and cultures, in the hope of triggering a ripple effect that shifts the status quo and amplifies voices. We believe intercultural exchange can blossom in an environment of transparency, mutual respect and open-mindedness.

We all sisters

Women share many challenges when it comes to becoming entrepreneurs, such as difficult access to financing or family reconciliation. But it is also true that (not all of us have the same journey or access to certain opportunities), which is why we define two different groups of sisters: rural-based ‘StartUp Sisters’ seeking initial access and support, to the more established, city-based ‘Big Sisters’ wanting to create positive change. Becoming Nala exists to encourage and inspire each other, whether we’re at the same point in our journeys or coming from a place of experience.

OUR VALUES
TRUST
We have created a place in which women are encouraged to share both the hardships and success that come with starting a business. It’s crucial to us then, that this honesty is supported by a feeling of trust and a recognition of Becoming Nala as a safe space. For everyone in our sisterhood, trust underlines an assurance that everything shared amongst us is met with good intentions and a collective commitment to handle each story with care.
RESPONSIBILITY
At Becoming Nala, we like to think that we are not just responsible for ourselves, but also for each other. It is this spirit of duty that fuels our ethos of sisterhood, which extends beyond the realms of this project. We believe that a business cannot be successful unless it creates space for the wider community, so we strongly believe in the value of responsibility and its role in pushing us to support each other to create opportunities for all.
OPTIMISM
Optimism is an attitude that is characterized by hope and confidence. We believe that by bringing more sisters into entrepreneurship globally, we can make the world a better place. Key to our vision of the possibility of success and a bright future for all women is an attitude of positivity. This spirit is present in everything we do and fuels our support for each other — a true enthusiasm and belief that the best is possible for all of us!
